Chris Paul is headed to Los Angeles after an agreement in principle was reached Wednesday night on a trade sending him from New Orleans to the Clippers, three people with knowledge of the deal confirmed to CBSSports.com.
The Hornets will get Eric Gordon, Al-Farouq Aminu, Minnesota's unprotected first-round pick in the 2012 draft and the expiring contract of center Chris Kaman for the All-Star point guard, a person involved in the talks said.
ESPN.com first reported that the trade was agreed to after an excruciating and controversial fiasco that saw a previous deal sending Paul to the Lakers rejected by the league office, which was thrust into the unenviable position of handling the negotiations in the absence of a Hornets owner.
The traditional conference call vetting details and salary-cap compliance of the trade is scheduled for Wednesday evening.
